For lawyers and consultants

Client calls under NDA, written up on your own computer.

Safeclip records the call, transcribes it and drafts the note on your computer. The recording, transcript and note stay there. They are not sent to Safeclip, and no transcription vendor sees them.

Where it fits

Intake and strategy calls

Record the call from your laptop, with your client’s permission. Get a timestamped transcript and a note with the facts, decisions and next steps, without uploading the audio anywhere.

Expert and witness interviews

Ask where a point came up across all your interviews and get the passage with its timestamp. Check it against the recording before it goes into a memo.

Workshops and steering meetings

Long working sessions under NDA become a transcript and a summary of what was decided and who owns what, ready to edit and send.

One space per client

File recordings, notes and contact details under each client or matter with client spaces (Founding License). It all stays in your library on your computer.

How it works

  1. 01

    Ask first

The consent reminder shows when a meeting is detected and on screen while you record. It is on by default if you set Safeclip up for legal work.

  2. 02

    Record

Your microphone, plus the call audio from Zoom, Teams or any other app on your computer. No bot joins the meeting.

  3. 03

    Transcribe and draft

Whisper transcribes on your computer. A local model drafts the note: summary, decisions and next steps.

  4. 04

    Use it

Edit the note and copy it into your document system, or export Markdown. Ask across past matters on the local model.

Runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. Mac needs Apple Silicon. Transcription is slower on Windows and Linux, where it runs on the CPU, and calendar features are macOS only for now. English only today. Platform details →

What leaves your computer, and what doesn't.

Call recordings, transcripts and notes stay on your computer. They are not sent to Safeclip. Here is the short version of what does go over the internet.

Stays on your computer

  • Recordings and audio
  • Transcripts and notes
  • Ask, on the local model
  • Clips, client spaces and calendar events

Leaves your computer

  • Update checks, to Safeclip
  • Sign-in and a license check at launch and daily, only if you sign in for Founding
  • Model downloads from Hugging Face and GitHub, including the local search model if you turn on Search by meaning
  • Cloud Ask, only if you turn it on with your own key
  • Transcripts of files an AI assistant you connect asks for, and your library’s transcripts and notes only if you let it read them
  • Media from a link you paste, fetched from that site

No analytics or crash reporting in the app. Read the full list →

Questions lawyers and consultants ask

Does using Safeclip keep a conversation privileged or confidential?

We can’t answer that for you. It depends on your jurisdiction, your engagement and how you handle the material. What we can tell you is what happens to the data: the recording, transcript and note stay on your computer and are not sent to Safeclip. Everything the app does send is on our published list, and you can check it with a network monitor.

What leaves your computer →

Can our IT or security team check what the app sends?

Yes. We publish every connection the app makes, what it sends and when. Your team can watch them with the tools they already use: Resource Monitor or netstat on Windows, LuLu or Little Snitch on a Mac, ss on Linux. The app has no analytics or crash reporting.

How to check it yourself →

Can I keep clients separate?

Yes, with client spaces on the Founding License. Each client gets a space for their recordings, notes and contact details. All of it lives in your Safeclip library on your computer.

Does it join my calls as a bot?

No. Safeclip records on your computer: your microphone, plus the call’s audio from your speakers or headphones. No bot or extra participant joins the meeting, and the call app doesn’t announce that you are recording. People on the call won’t know unless you tell them, or unless they see Safeclip on a screen you share.

Do I need to tell people I’m recording?

It is good practice, and in many places it is the law. Consent rules vary by country and state: some require everyone’s permission, some only one person’s. Check the law where you and the other people are.

Safeclip shows a consent reminder when a meeting is detected and on screen while you record. It is on by default if you set up Safeclip for therapy or legal work, and you can turn it on in Settings.
